switching from drupal+civicrm shared DB to 2 databases
November 03, 2009, 04:01:37 pm
My current install uses a shared mysql database for Drupal and Civi. I'm assuming it's possible to switch to two databases without reimporting everything from CSV files, but I haven't tried it yet.

Do you think it's feasible to do this, and do you have any advice on how?

I am also in the process of trying to switch my database from "single site install" to multisite install based on advice from Lobo in a recent forum post. Not exactly sure how easy that will be. if anybody has done it before and has tips, let me know.

PS -- Lobo, I really appreciate your willingness to help make CiviCRM work for me! And thanks to the other contributors as well.

1. do a mysqldump

2. delete all non-civicrm entries from the above file

3. import into new database

4. fix civicrm.settings.php to point to new DB

if u follow the multi-site instruction enabling multi-site should be relatively easy. if it does not work, contact us on IRC
