Using profile to register a joomla user - Question
November 04, 2009, 12:06:29 pm
Hi all,
I have set up a profile and got it set up to register a joomla user. But here is a question I keep running into - Since I need to have the joomla self register function operational, that creates a joomla link on the login form so now I have in esence two seperate registration routes/forms. How can I eliminate the joomla generated link on the login form or direct it to use the civi form?

Also, Is there a way that I can have a link to set up a personal campaign page at the end of the registration process?

So in theory, the steps a user would take when registering would be:

1) register/user creation (using civicrm, not joomla, via profile)

2) Personal campaign page set-up

I hope my post makes sense and that someone can help me.
Thanks all  ;D

I "think" you can configure Joomla to not show a "register" link - but that's a question you should probably ask on the joomla forums if no one here gives you a definitive answer.

For the Personal Campaign page flow - you should just start them on the first page of the PCP create flow (which embeds the "Supporter Profile" with a prompt to create user account). You can add fields to the Supporter Profile (via Admin CiviCRM >> Customize >> Profile) so it collects the data you want.

The basic format for linking to the "Create PC page" flow is:

/civicrm/contribute/campaign?action=add&reset=1&pageId=1

where pageId is the ID of the online contribution page they are going to be "supporting".
