After reading and reading, I am still at the same point
November 04, 2009, 12:08:37 pm
I have created a profile called Volunteeer Signup.  When I go to Menu>Life Message Functions, I select new and choose CiviCRM>Profiles Create.  In Parameters (Basic) I select the Volunteeer Signup profile.  It shows up on the front-end, but when I select it, all I see is Volunteeer Signup inside of a borders box.  The form is not there.  I have researched all day for why this is happening and can't seem to see why.  I can create forms in JForms and publish them with no problem.  But I really need the power and features CiviCRM brings.

Any ideas would be appreciated.  We just switched to DreamHost (from GoDaddy) because i know GoDaddy can't handle CiviCRM very well.  I am on a test sub-domain at http://www.lifemessage.dreamhosters.com/ if anyone wants to take a look.

ensure that your profile field settings visibility is: "Public User Pages" or "Public User Pages and Listings"

Yes they are.  my screen do not look anything like http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/How+to+Create+Profiles  I cannot select Searchable nor In Select.

I have already built all the profiles, but I think I may have just discovered the potential problem.  One one profile (Volunteer Signup), I need:

Prefix (Individual)
First name (Individual)
Last name (Individual)
Address (Contact)
City (Contact)
State (Contact)
Email (Contact)
Phone (Contact)
Participant Role (Participant)
Comments (Individual)

Being that I have different record types.  I am think that the only options I have (assuming this is the problem) would be to create custom groups or alter the current ones (primarily Individual).

Does this make sense?

yes, u will need to delete the participant role field from the below profile. It should have given you a better error message rather than not displaying any fields

OK Cool, thanks.  That's done, but when I complete the form, I get the following error:

Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.

Strict rule for Individual does not exist

Return to home page.

would be helpful if you enable debugging and copy backtrace.

To enable  "Enable Debugging" and "Display Backtrace" go to  Administer CiviCRM  -> Global Settings -> Debugging
related url might be like : http://joomla.demo.civicrm.org/administrator/index2.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/admin/setting/debug&reset=1

thanks
