Ican see the style output of the folliwn g code from Register.tmpl
<table class="form-layout-compressed">
    <tr>
   <td class="label nowrap">{$form.$n.label}</td><td>{$form.$n.html}</td>
    </tr>
</table>

What is is for? There are no hidden vars produced by it. Is it safe to remove?

would help if u give the complete pathname to that file

Did a find on svn and did not find Register.tmpl. There are 3 different Register.tpl

if in event, it basically spits out the email form element. check the assign statement before the <table ..> statement
