Help, can not edit profile via front-end joomla
November 10, 2009, 02:06:46 am
Hi all,
I am strugling now for a couple of days: I am on joomla 1.5.14 and civicrm 3.0.2. I have contacts that can fill in a profile form with custom data fields when they are logged in. All this works fine but I when i set the profile to "Include profile edit links in search results?" I never get a link. When i was on civicrm 3.0.0 I got a link but then it did not work since it gave the "
You do not have permission to execute this url. " message all the time. I just want the contacts to be able to edit their own profile page via the front-end. This seems rather basic functionality to me.
Cheers,
Adriaan

Due to permissioning issues, we dont allow users to Edit other contacts profile via the frontend (this was a security bug in earlier releases of 2.2.x) and hence the Edit link is gone from listings

You can create the edit list manually, something like:

http://joomla.demo.civicrm.org/index.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/profile/edit&reset=1&gid=1

and it should work for a logged in user

Thnx Lobo, I see your point but I just want the contacts to be able to change their own profile and not somebody elses. I will create a new view of that page and add the edit link to the table.

Another thing is : is it possible to prefill existing fields of a new profile form with the existing contact/user information (Name, Email) of the logged in user?

Cheers,
Adriaan

the profile form should be prefilled with existing information for a logged in user by default

Correct when you do edit but not when you create the profile for the first time. Should be possible since the contact is logged in and 'known' by the system? Cheers Adriaan.

create - always creates a new contact and does not use ANY exisiting info

edit - edits info from existing contact, or switches to create if there is no existing contact
