How to edit the contribution page layout

I find using the contribution page in Joomla 1.5.15, that the registration page is designed with fields overlapping the titles
I need to edit the HTML or css of the contribution page template.  Where or how can I locate that part of civicrm

I guess you can fix it with css. Check css/civicrm.css

OR you can create a custom copy of the templates and customize the layout:

Note that the HTML markup for the online contribution pages is changing pretty dramatically in the upcoming 3.1 release (tables are being replaced with div's throughout - in order to make style changes easier). If you're just getting started, you might want to wait a bit and then work with the 3.1 version - current schedule is here: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRM/CiviCRM+v3.1
