Extending CiviCRM
November 11, 2009, 08:46:31 am
Hello,

I am currently evaluating CiviCRM for use with our new website, mainly for CiviEvent, but also for managing a contact database and co-ordinating mailings. I have not used CiviCRM previously, and our new site will be using Drupal, which I am also very new to using. However, I am looking at how/if it may be possible to extend CiviCRM to work as a career services application. It would seem very easy to track employers and employees, but how would I go about creating the job listings themselves? Would it be a better approach to create the jobs as custom nodes in Drupal, and then reference connections with CiviCRM contacts (is this possible?), or is there a means to extend CiviCRM itself to create a custom data type? I would appreciate any guidance or suggestions.

Best,
Jim

There's several Job Posting modules for Drupal - for example: http://drupal.org/project/job_posting

... which might make sense to investigate using and integrating w/ CiviCRM via CCK. Not sure if anyone else has already gone down this road...
