More info please!
"Not working" is too broad,
Quick stab in dark -forget civic for the moment and check if joomla is working.

If you have a completely blank screen front end open your index.php and look for hacks in the footer....
This ocurred recently to me and the index file had been compromised/hacked

More info will get you more help :)

Thank you for the reply but yes its giving me a blank screen.
I can see the backend is going smoothly.

Can you tell me what type hacks?

Best idea is to grab the original code from Joomla and unzip this. Get the index.php from the joomla root and compare with your problematic version.

Usually it is pretty obvious as it will have links to other sites for drugs/porn etc

I've changed the index.php with the fresh version of joomla but i think problem is something else.

backend of joomla is running pretty well.
I can't understand what is the problem here.
I've followed all the steps  of this article: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Moving+an+Existing+Installation+to+a+New+Server+or+Location
but couln't understand the problem

Yes the version on my site is 2.2.2

Please can you clarfiy what versions and platforms?
You state:"Moving an Existing Installation to a my local for testing the frontend of joomla stopped working"
Debugging local setups is probably too difficult compared to live and without further information  it is hard to know what is going on.

i've taken a back up of this site: http://www.beaq.org.au/

and trying to setup on my local for some customisation.

After the whole process of moving, admin's backend started working fine but joomla frontend is blank.
and no errors in error log.

civi version is 2.2.2
joomla version : 1.5.14

on linux environment.

php version?
if 5.3 then joomla might have some issues try 1.5.15

Otherwise check all your files are downloaded properly, ie nothing missing .

my PHP version is 5.2.6

No file is missing because i've taken a JPA dump and if any file was missing it would have never installed on my local.

Does even your Joomla! front-end home page display white screen only? Did you do a view source to see if there's any content at all in the page that's not being displayed? What happens if you disable the CiviCRM extension in the backend?

My last two pence on this one...

Try replicating on the live server in a different installation path without civicrm - and turn on the debugging settings in Joomla to max.

Outside possibilities - errors in the plugins in Joomla can have unusual effects. Disable all of them apart from the authentication plugins.

Check your template for a zero byte index.php (sometimes happens when you upload a template file and server space runs out - the file turns into a zero byte file)

If none of these get your homepage back drop me a message direct with your admin details and I will drop in for a look - trust permitting :)

Did you ever resolve this issue?  The same thing is happening to me.  My existing menu links on the front end return a white screen.  I tested a new civiCRM menu item to an existing profile and still got a white screen.  Same thing with a new menu item to the dashboard.

This doesn't have anything to do with the deleted files from the media directory that are one of the steps of the install, does it?

OK, I found my solution: my new server requires a database path to mysqli rather than mysql.  I'd made the change in one settings file, but not the other (in Joomla, there are settings files in both the /component/civiCRM/ folder and the administrator/componenet/civiCRM directory).
