CiviContribute - Allow contribution of zero dollars
November 12, 2009, 10:32:55 am
I'm using CiviContribute for people to buy memberships. Ideally, I want people to be able to buy a membership for whatever they feel is fair, with a suggested amount of 20 dollars. I have this almost working, having made a membership type that is free and then adding a contribution section onto the membership conbribute page. The only problem is when someone doesn't want to contribute anything. If they type in zero dollars (and i have some javascript auto-check "pay by check" and hide the payment information) it submits and says "amount required". I need people to be able to "buy" the membership even if they pay nothing, because it gives them access to certain things on the site. Any ideas?

I think we allow $0 contribution amount (and skip sending transaction to the payment processor) in the current version. You might check your setup on the 3.0 demo.

Can be a bit tricky to navigate when language is changed :-)

You can always use this URL:

Did you ever get this to work?  My scenario is much like mvonrose's: a Price Set that may add up to $0. On submit the form is simply redisplayed.  No error. CiviCRM 3.1.5 in Drupal 6.16.  Demo site rejects demo/demo credentials at the moment anyway.

You may want to refer to this thread: http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,13702.0.html if lobo's suggestion doesn't work.
