Register Event Participant functionality
November 15, 2009, 01:29:28 pm
Hi,
this question is about registering event participants offline. The scenario is one where participants can also register in person at the event and make a payment there. Then the person is entered/registered manually through the Civi backend. Civi Version is 3.0.2.

I have these steps:
1. create an event registration. At this point a contact is created (or selected if existing), and a registration.
2. edit the registrion, at that point it will ask for price set and payment info (check). Now we habe stilll the registration but no payment info, but also a contribution.
3. edit the resulting contribution (which is $0 at that point) and enter the amount.

Now you have the registration (but without the amount paid) and the resulting contribution, but it took 3 steps.

Trying to find out if we are using this functionality wrong or if we are something else missing. Online registration including custom data works like a charm, btw :-) but should the backend not allow for the same registration functionality, maybe it does and I don't see it.
Thanks for any hints and comments.
Thomas

Wondering if you've resolved this... does it still apply to Civi 4.1?  I am doing some work on the event registration workflow that I hope will benefit other people in similar situations.  Thanks!
