How to turn off automatic "Activity Summary" emails?

I'm not sure if this is part of civiReport, civiMail, or some other area of civi. I've looked through the docs and the administrator settings on my install and am at a loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I recently upgraded to civiCRM 3.0. Now every time I create an activity a copy of the activity is sent via email to the person it was assigned to. It also creates a second email activity in CiviCRM. How do I turn this off?

Here's what I get via email when I create an activity...

Hi,

Yes, new behaviour, the idea is that if you get something assigned to you, that's good to get it notified.

How are you using assigned to and why don't you need it ?

I don't think you can disable it from the interface, but you can modify the code.

If I understood properly, there will be improvements in the activities in 3.2 or 3.3. Seems like being able to decide if the people assigned to or "with" get an email or not would solve your case.

I'm having the same problem and it's driving me a little nuts. I can certainly see the value, but it's unnecessary for our work flow and it fills the activity reports with extraneous data.

If I wanted to stop this, how would I modify the code? I'm only familiar with CiviCRM from the front-end. Where do I start to look?

Discussed with the team and we agree that there should be a way to disable this. I've filed an issue for 3.1 to provide a 'switch' that can be added to the CiviCRM settings file to turn this feature off.

For the sake of tidying old threads which are still stumbled upon, this did become an option, and later they ignored the option and instead added a UI for it which you can access at:

<yoursite>civicrm/admin/setting/preferences/display?reset=1
