Joomla 1.6

I appreciate that this is VERY early/premature question, given that Joomla 1.6 is only in alpha (and they aren't exactly rushing out the beta, yet alone production), and the CiviCRM team are focussing on v3.1, but what plans are there for compatability with Joomla 1.6 in the roadmap?

J1.6 appears to have at least two things (ACL, extensible user fields) that CiviCRM has been making use of successfully with Drupal for a while now and which have made the Joomla/CiviCRM fit a bit awkward in the past.

3.1 will NOT support Joomla 1.6. We hope to release 3.1 before the end of the year

There is a joomla developer camp in NY on Dec 5-6 (details on joomla web site). If joomla developers are interested in taking the integration between Civi and Joomla to the next level please join us there. We hope to improve things during that camp, but to do so, we need the time and dedication from a few joomla developers. (and if you are not a developer, sponsor your local joomla/civicrm developer!)

One of the reasons for a strong integration with Drupal is the contributions we get from the drupal developer community
