I'm trying to set up an event that allows online registration and includes two custom profile forms: one for the initial registrant, who has the option to register additional participants; and another for additional participants. When I try to configure the event, though, I'm unable to set it up this way. If I try choose the additional registrant profile under "Profile for Additional Participants (top of page)" and choose "no profile" for "Profile for Additional Participants (bottom of page)", after I submit the configuration it gets switched to initial registrant profile (top) / additional registrant profile (bottom). If I try to set it as no profile (top) / additional registrant (bottom), it gets reset to initial profile (top) / no profile (bottom). I tried something similar on the sandbox site (this is the event I created), and encountered strange - though not identical - behavior there, too.

Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong? For instance, do the profiles have to exclusively consist of participant fields? (The way I set them up, the initial registrant profile includes individual, contact and participant fields, and the additional registrant profile includes individual fields.) I'd appreciate any advice as to how to fix this.

Thanks. I was using 3.0.0. Tried upgrading to 3.0.2 on my local test site and am not experiencing the exact same problem, but it still doesn't seem quite right. Now if I choose an additional registrant profile to display on the top of the page and set add'l profile (bottom of page) to "no profile", the "no profile" gets switched to "same as for main contact" - however, when test-driving registration, only the profile set to display on the top of the page shows up. When I choose "no profile" for top of page and select the profile I want for bottom of page, they both end up set to no profile. This is the same thing that was happening on the sandbox site, and it's better than what was happening before, but like I said, it still seems wrong. It seems like Civi should preserve the config options I choose, which isn't happening for some reason. I'm sure I could be missing something, though.

OK, I just created a test event on the demo site. If you mess around with online registration configuration (here), the behavior vis a vis multiple registrant profiles is as I described above.
