CiviEvent / Views sorting problem

I have a CiviEvent view set to sort by start date, ascending, with granularity "minute", but it's displaying a Dec. 30 2009 event above a Nov. 26 2009 event.  Changing the sort order to descending doesn't accomplish anything.  Am I doing something wrong?
