Offsite Domain - changing MX record
November 24, 2009, 08:24:59 am
Here is my scenario.

we are hosted at Verio.  We own a domain called domainxx.  we currently have mail.domainxxx.org set up in civismtp as the reply to address.

we are using CiviCRM to support multiple sites.  One is a site where we don't have the domain hosted at Verio.  It is forwarded to the Domain servers.  let's call it domyyy.com.   What would I need to tell the owners of domyyy.com to change in order to be able to have the reply to address in our mailings be   mail.domyyy.com?

thx

love this service. so easy to use and reliable.

If I understand what you have written, you do not have to do anything specific for your offsite domain to work.  Just be sure that the domain you would like to use for newsletters is setup appropriately in the MX system according to the instructions in Step 3 on this page:

http://civismtp.org/drupal/node/1

The actual location or organization that hosts your dns records does not make any difference to us or to the way CiviSMTP functions.

hope that helps,

-Shane
