Can't edit Civicrm.settings.php to add Key for civimail cron to work
November 29, 2009, 11:52:29 pm
I'm trying to set up CiviMail with CiviCRM Ver 3.0.2 running in Drupal 6.

I have shell access, but can't edit the civicrm.settings.php file to put in a value for Key. The file is read only and owned by apache. Linux won't let me change this.

Any suggestions?

You should check with your server administrator.  Also your forum profile says your on php 4.x, but CiviCRM v3.0.x needs php 5.2.x

I just had exactly same problem - the guys gave me the idea to use "sudo", but since I had super admin account I logged in using it, see the details here:

Try changing the properties of the folder "default" to add write permissions.  I couldn't delete the file either and this solved it for me.  Just tested and I could edit and now changed the folder permissions back removing write.
