A client has some questions about import reports

1. The Civi Summary screen: If the total number of contacts I tried
to import was 457 and 14 rows were skipped and not imported because of
invalid data; and 443 contacts were created or modified during the import
(which seems to make sense, since the 457 I started with, minus 14 errors,
equals 443 valid contacts imported). then why does Civi's Summary report
show: "454 contacts added to this existing group. One contact NOT added
(already in this group)." That number, 454, would indicate that only THREE
contacts were not added to this group, but this last sentence says only ONE
contact was not added to the group. And the earlier lines in this summary
screen say 14 contacts were not added to thr group! So Civi's own reporting
figures on the number of contacts imported (and not imported) seem to
contradict.

2. I downloaded the error report, expecting to find 14 contacts with
errors, since Civi reported in the Summary that there were 14 errors and
prompted to download the report to view those errors. Only, when I download
the report, it shows 19 contacts with errors, not 14. Why is that? What
are those additional 5 contacts?

Alfred - I seem to recall that there were some issues with import summary totals in earlier versions of 2.x. Also, if additional contact rows are created (or attempted to be created) due to "related contact" mapping - this can cause these discrepancies. Hard to tell for sure w/o matching the error rows reported (for example) against the actual data.
