Exchange Server config for civimail?
December 01, 2009, 12:25:13 pm
We are attempting to use an exchange server account as the email account for accepting contacts. We add the IP address, but the protocol seems set as only IMAP or POP3.

Is there a way around this for exchange servers, or are we only going to be able to use this with a pop3 or imap account?

Thanks.

Dear seashell,

I've never administered Exchange Server but I notice it offers both a POP3 and an IMAP4 service - see http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996347.aspx

So one option would be to start up these services and point CiviCRM to the appropriate port (POP3 for outgoing and IMAP4 for incoming). Might be quicker than waiting for a patch to CiviCRM (though the CiviDudes are no slouches when it comes to adding features!)

I know that this is an old topic but I would like to know if it's possible at all to have CiviCRM in a remote dedicated server and configure it so it handles the incoming and outgoing with an Exchange server in a different location (different IP).
