Setting in-line or tab for custom data fields
December 06, 2009, 02:21:12 pm
When I go to Administer CiviCRM>>Custom Data I can see that the custom data groups I have are marked as Style "Inline" (and enabled).

The manual (p.63) suggests that I should be able to set this to "Tab", but I can't see where to do this. It doesn't appear to be an option in the settings associated with that Custom Data group and I can't see where I would set it in a new data group.

The same bit of the manual suggests that I should be seeing this data in the Summary tab, but I can't see it there either. These groups are enabled, and do have some data - so what obvious thing am I missing here?

Thanks. I had been looking in the right place, but couldn't see the option - realise now that it only appears where the custom data group is for certain types (e.g. individual) not for (as all mine were) memberships. I had assumed that the data collected when someone did a membership sign-up would be recorded against their contract record: I failed to understand that distinction.

For these data groups where you can't select Input/Tab is there any meaning to the "Input" type shown on the list of data groups or would be more accurate to say "Not applicable"?

Makes sense.. Can you file an usability improvement issue.
