show donation items w/o user login
September 07, 2007, 08:52:55 am
Hello,

I'm fairly new to Drupal/CiviCRM,  but have been able to install and am now trying to configure it to our organization's needs.  I would like to create a donation page (using CiviContribute) for specific items to display on our front page, without requiring visitors to register to see the different campaigns (title, teaser, etc) and chart (with % of goal reached).  Is this possible?  So far I've been able to create different campaigns, but it seems that only registered users can see them.  Is it possible to display the campaigns, and then if the visitor wants to make a donation they can register and donate?  How can I put them into a list (sort of like a catalog listing) so that visitors can browse the different needs and then decide to register if they find a suitable item?  The next step would be to separate these lists into donor types, and be able to display different listings depending on which type the visitors choose.

Hopefully I've explained myself well enough... I'm using the lastest Drupal and CiviCRM.

Thanks!

1. make sure that you have given anonymous user the permission to access online contribution pages. Check:

http://demo.civicrm.org/drupal/admin/user/access

for an example. You will need to login. Giving anon user access to all custom data might also be useful. People do not need to register to make a contribution (though u can enforce that using permissions)

2. Regarding the campaign lists, you will have to use a combination of drupal and civicrm api's to build a page with the information you want and get the campaigns from civicrm. There is no support for this currently

With the demo user I cannot get to the Drupal user/access admin section.  I've been playing around on my install with the permissions and only authenticated users can see my contribution pages.  I would like the anonymous user to see the contribution pages, and then if they choose to donate they can register.  I see another thread that mentions using logintoboggan to do something similar... is this necessary or can the Drupal core modules handle it?

I'm considering using the Drupal ecommerce module with civicrm to handle the campaign lists.  Are the any examples of this?  Or any advice in using the ecommerce module this way?

Thanks!

The anonymous user has the following permissions on demo:

access all custom data
make online contributions
profile listings and forms
register for events

Note that you can use the "create CMS account" feature to create an account if the user so desires. But your current workflow of "view" contribution pages and then "register" if you choose to donate is not supported (since we dont have a "view" option)

We dont have any experience with ecommerce to make any valid suggestions :(
