Email salutation and Addressee fields aren't filled when view existing records

After we upgraded from 2.2.9 to v3.0, for existing Individual records, the new core email salutation and addressee core fields aren't "set" when you initially view the summary tab for an individual.  But if I click edit - I can see that the default tokens are used appropriatley, so then I hit save right away, then you can see the values are set.  Apparently postal salutation is filled in correctly.  is there a cron job or something we need to run?
