need subtype "any" when creating custom data group
December 09, 2009, 12:39:47 pm
I'm in the sandbox, and when I create a custom data group for Individual records, it would nice to have a subtype "any" so that if more subtypes are added later, "any" will apply to everything.   This should also be the case for Organization and Household records.

I think "-any-" in a multi-select box would be confusing. Currently If you don't select any subtype in the second selector, custom group would also apply to subtypes added later (in addition to subtypes currently listed). Or may be improve the help text to convey this information ?

Yes - you're right - if you don't select anything, then it's implicit that the group applies to "any" subtype.  But for usability - it would be great to either have help text or have an option like "--any subtype--"  or something.   You're call - I didn't open an issue since it does work.
