I have just under a thousand unique constituents with contributions that were entered manually over time.  These were entered incorrectly and never assigned a Membership type.  Consequently none of the membership/CiviMember reporting/functionality is of any use for these constituents.  The contribution amounts entered are equal to my defined membership levels though.  I've developed some contribution reports as a stop gap but I would like/need to convert these contributions to CiviMember records. 

Is there a plugin or any administrative option I am overlooking?  Best I can tell some custom SQL queries might be the best/only option...
