unable to upgrade from 2.1.4
December 18, 2009, 08:04:15 am
hey folks,

i am trying to upgrade a site today. it is using 2.1.4. when i try to upgrade to 2.2 i go to the /civicrm/upgrade?reset=1 page and i immediately get the "CiviCRM upgrade was successful." response. no button to press. no processing. just success.

of course it did not work. nothing happens. it does not run the upgrade script.

what do i do???

Probably because version information is missing in civicrm_domain table. If yes try putting 2.1.4 as the version and revisit the upgrade process.

version in domain table is 2.1.4

footer says: Powered by CiviCRM 2.2.9.

Civi Admin screen says: A newer version of CiviCRM is available: 3.0.3 (this site is currently running 2.1.4).

i solved this by taking the civi database and uploading it into a fresh drupal/civi 2.1.4 install.

then i ran the upgrade for 2.2 and it worked! got it upgraded to 3.0.3 and was very happy.

then i moved the database to its original location using http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Moving+an+Existing+Installation+to+a+New+Server+or+Location

thanks!
