Upgrading from 2.2.7 to 3.0.3 - Step 7 = nothing hapens
December 19, 2009, 04:43:37 pm
I'm trying to upgrade from 2.2.7 to 3.0.3. I get to step 7, but nothing happens.

It tells me that the "Upgrade CiviCRM to Version 2.2.7" was successful. Nothing about 3.0.3, no upgrade button. CiviCRM is working fine, but I can't upgrade.

What could be going wrong?

PS: Drupal shows CiviCRM as v3.0 in the modules list.
PPS: I can't get to the admin area cause a non-existing images keeps popping up in a lightbox overlay ...  ???

Thank you for the hint with lightbox. I have upgraded as you suggested, and the problem with the re-appearing box is gone.

Nevertheless, this still doesn't solve my problem with not being able to upgrade to 3.0.3. :( As I said, I have uploaded the 3.0.3 CiviCRM module to my site, but CiviCRM is convinced it can't upgrade to it.

On the administration page I get this message:

Quote
A newer version of CiviCRM is available: 3.0.3 (this site is currently running 2.2.7).

Read about the new version on our website and download it here.

When I go to upgrade, it says that:

Quote
Upgrade CiviCRM to Version 2.2.7
Operating in off-line mode.

Your database has already been upgraded to CiviCRM 2.2.7

Return to CiviCRM home page.

How can I convince it to see that the files are 3.0.3 and to run the upgrade?

Can you check if your database has "civicrm_navigation" and "civicrm_participant_status_type" tables. These were added in 3.0

no, it doesn't. But how could it have since I never managed to run a v3.x upgrade successfully?

This confirms that you are on CiviCRM 2.2.x. Can you follow these instructions for upgrade: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Upgrade+Drupal+Sites+to+3.0

that's precisely what I did, but I get to step 7 and nothing happens. :(

How can I figure out why CiviCRM doesn't want to upgrade?

Kurund - thank you for the hints in the chat. I figured out what was wrong: The civicrm_root path was wrong!

I must have forgot to change it when I was migrating the server. So CiviCRM was checking in the wrong directory and thus couldn't find the update.  ::)

Everything seems to work fine now.

I'm having the same problem: update script has blank screen on step 7 of http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Upgrade+Drupal+Sites+to+3.0#UpgradeDrupalSitesto3.0-1.Downloadthemostrecent3.0CiviCRMPackage

no change to config files - nothing is on the screen, just blank!

Hi Kurund:
I fall on my sword - foolishly, I grabbed the wrong distribution - standalone rather than drupal.  Careless as it was, you may want to consider adding an error message if possible.  thanks for the followup - seems to install fine.
