Unrecoverable error

"Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred."
Could not find a valid value for id.

I'm getting this error within the last month whenever someone attempts to register for an event while using the IE 8 browser.  It happens on the Thank You screen.  It works fine in all other browsers I've tested, including IE 8 in compatibility mode.  I know what's causing it, but not how to fix it.  I'd rather not insist my users go to compatibility mode when I know there is a way for the page itself to force the browser into that mode.

Any ideas?

P.S. Drupal 6.15, civicrm 3.03

Hi Kurund,

The error does not replicate at the demo site.  I do get that error if I press the "back" button after the thank-you page on the demo site, but that happens with all browsers.  I have NO custom code at my site, with the exception of a slightly tweaked Elevon payment processor module that works fine.  I also get this error on a "Pay Later" option that bypasses the Elevon module.  Last month, we had no errors like this occurring with the previous event registration. Also, the error goes away if I view the site in "compatibility mode".

I note that the demo site is not in secure (SSL) mode when I process the transaction... That's one difference.

It does look like I have some configuration problem, but I have no idea where it would be....
