Confusing Message in Personal Campaign Page Emails to PCP Creators

The procedure outlined in the emails that are sent to PCP creators is confusing. Here's an excerpt from an email sent from CiviCRM 3.0.3:
_________________________________________________________________________________
Whenever you want to preview, update or promote your page:
1. Login to your account at:
http://domain.org/administrator/

2. Click or paste this link into your browser to go to your page:
http://domain.org/index.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/contribute/pcp/info&reset=1&id=4

When you view your campaign page WHILE LOGGED IN, the page includes links to edit
your page, tell friends, and update your contact info.
_________________________________________________________________________________

This email is telling the user that they first have to go to the login link and log in to the website. Then, they have to go back to their email and copy/paste the URL in step 2 into their browser. Once I read the directions carefully, I understood it. But I have to say that I created a couple of test pages before I slowed down enough to realize what is required. I'm sure lots of other people are going to be confused by this two-step process. A better approach would be provide a single link and, if the person is not already logged in, redirect them to the login page. Then, after logging in, redirect them back to their actual destination. Any chance of getting that change made?

(As it happens, the link shown in step 1 above is wrong because the user won't be able to login as admin even if he is paying attention to the email. But I've created a separate post on that topic. For the sake of this topic, I'm assuming that a valid login link is provided.)

lets flip the question around :) any chance of making that change and/or sponsoring a developer to investigate and make the change? an open source project needs community contributions to help improve things

How does one get started? I'm a software developer with a bit of experience in PHP and Joomla.

You can start by reading:

http://civicrm.org/architecture

this should give you a good overview of the code/template layout. feel free to ask questions on IRC/forum and we can help out
