CMS support for v2.0
September 12, 2007, 07:02:29 am
Just saw the roadmap for v2.0 which states

Note that v2.0 will ONLY support PHP5.2+, MySQL 5.0.x+ (later releases only), Drupal 6+, Joomla 1.5+
http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRM/CiviCRM+v2.0

Is the Drupal 6+ and Joomla 1.5+ statement correct?

I'm assuming this is not correct and Joomla 1.0.x and Drupal 5.x will be supported too.

PS you guys rock!

Henry:

For now, yes. Both Drupal 6 and Joomla 1.5 will be out by Nov or so (we hope). 2.0 is tentatively scheduled for Jan (currently). So makes sense to only support the latest version. Supporting multiple versions takes more energy and resources than we'd like

Am I correct in assuming that support for Drupal 5.2 will be dropped in CiviCRM 2.0?

If so, then it is important to make sure that people know . I mention this as many of us use  other modules in addition to CiviCRM  that may (or may not) have also been upgraded for Drupal 6.

This also depends on when Drupal 6 is released and when CiviCRM v2 is released. We have made it clear that we plan on supporting only the latest versions of the CMS on the wiki (http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRM/CiviCRM+v2.0). I think we have mentioned this on the blog and mailing list when we talk about v2.

v2 is also not due till early next year, so its a bit in the future for now

OK.. thanks for clarifying this. I think it is important that this is publicised more widely.

I agree with you decision to move with the latest CMS release. The move from Joomla 1.0.x to 1.5 is a non trivial upgrade and will not likely be a day one upgrade for many. Saying that, with CiviCRM requiring it it provides more incentive to do so.

Just want to keep the topic going Drupal 5x
This would help alot since I have modules like Civinode and custom modules that may not work with Drupal 6
Thanks

We'll have a post on this sometime soon. If i had to guess now, neither drupal 6 nor joomla 1.5 will be hitting final in 2007

Thanks for the heads up.  I ran a quick test with a phpinfo() on my 3 hosting companies and found:
php5= 5.1.6, 5.2.5 and  5.05
mysql= 4.1.22, 4.1.22 and 4.1.21

Looks like I'll have to rethink configuration and our plan to learn the current CiviCRM version and begin real implementation with CiviCRM version 2.

Anyone making a chart of hosting companies that support CiviCRM version 2 requirements of PHP 5.2+ and MySQl 5.0+ ?

Also info re: Site5 - We're currently running SQL 4.1.22-standard-log according to Site5.
