Move/copy CiviCRM to another Drupal installation, possible?

Hi all, I hope this hasn't been answered elsewhere already (I didn't find it).

I am wondering if it is possible to move an installed version of CiviCRM to another Drupal website (separate databases). I've read http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMUPCOMING/Moving+an+Existing+Installation+to+a+New+Server+or+Location and other forum topics on migration problems, but everything I've read was about moving everything (Drupal+CiviCRM) to a new server or location.

The point is of course to keep the settings and data in CiviCRM, but visiting the CiviCRM install url will wipe data, I understand. Or is there a way to do a clean install and export+import everything (users, data, configurations, etc.) from the old to the new CiviCRM at once?

I would suggest following:

1. Install fresh CiviCRM on new server drupal (same version as your other civicrm). Make sure it's working fine.
2. Then drop civicrm db on new server.
3. Load civicrm db from old server.
4. Empty civicrm_uf_match table.
5. Empty civicrm_menu table.
6. Fix Resource url
6. Then run <sitename>/civicrm/menu/rebuild?reset=1

That's it.

Thanks for writing this up! I'm not yet ready to try it, but i'll post here later whether this worked for me.

Just writing to confirm that this set of instructions works just fine. Was a bit confused about 'fix resource URL', but figured out that it just meant perform step #6 of this: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC32/Moving+an+Existing+Installation+to+a+New+Server+or+Location
