IE8 Compatability View problems
January 06, 2010, 01:44:26 pm

EDIT: Have just noticed this: http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,11240.0.html so may be the same issue.

ORIGINAL POST:
I've got some custom data fields. For the sake of a test, I've created one in the Joomla demo site which is a simple 'are you aged over 65?' Y/N field (as data relating to an individual).
If this field is added to a profile field, or a group of them are a new profile field, and this profile field is then used in a membership sign up page, then it causes IE8 to raise a compatability view warning.

This warning does not appear in the first page (where you are filling in data) but in the next one (the 'check this and click proceed') one. In some cases (i.e. for my fuller set of fields on my site but not the single example on the demo site) this actually corrupts this page so that the data and continue buttons do not appear (so the page is useless).

This problem does not arise if you use the existing profile fields unamended, nor for Firefox (3.5) or Opera (10.10). When viewing that second page via Firefox a test against the W3C validator reports that it is fully compliant XHTML, so in theory there is nothing for a brower to take offence to.

As I say, this is replicable, in part at least, on the joomla.demo.civicrm.org site.

Hope that gives enough information to understand the issue. Any ideas what upsets IE8?

I have tried on my local install as well as on demo site, But could not able to replicate.

It would be great if you try to replicate issue on http://joomla.demo.civicrm.org/

If you provide some screenshots, would be helpful to debug.

also can I know which CiviCRM version are you using,  since your forum profile shows CiviCRM v3.0 and this thread is under CiviCRM v 3.1.

thanks

Amit
