Adding a "How did you hear about us?" form to Contribute pages
January 07, 2010, 07:27:35 am
Is there a way to add form elements to the contribution pages to capture for instance, information on "how the donor found out about our organization". I see that you can add Profiles to the donation landing page, that appear as form elements the donor can fill out; is this the best way to capture such data? If so, which existing profile can best be used for a question like that?

First create the Custom Data field you want to collect the information in.

Then add this to an existing profile or create a new profile

Then set the Contribution page to use that profile for collecting the data.

OK I have created the custom data groups and custom profiles to be used with the contribution pages, not how to I make them available for anonymous users? At the moment you can only see them when logged on, but if I try to see the contribution page anonymously (as most of our donors will) I get the following error:

The requested Profile (gid=9) is disabled OR it is not configured to be used for 'Profile' listings in its Settings OR there is no Profile with that ID OR you do not have permission to access this profile. Please contact the site administrator if you need assistance.

I just fogured out I had to give some additional permissions in Drupal to the anonymous user role I order for the profiles to show up.
