Can you sort contact search by creation date?
September 15, 2007, 04:28:39 am
Contact search (in the jooma! backend) is now sorted alphabetically, but my user would like to be able to sort by creation date and just export the new users. Is there a way to do this?

I know I can sort of do this in the front end using the profile search and exposing contactid, but I can't export from there.

One possible approach is to kuse Advanced Search - Change Log panel to search on records "modified" w/in a time period. This will give NEW and CHANGED records but might be "close enough" (esp since exports include the internal contact ID).

I "thought" you could also do this by creating a Profile used for "search results" and including "Internal Contact ID" as a profile field. However, I tried this and contact ID column is empty in the results. I've filed a bug report for 2.1 for this - but that won't help you know :-(

Actually it doesn't give you new, just changed. There is no changelog entry when a record is created. :( Sounds like a feature request to me. :)

The first entry is the date for when the record was "created", i.e. the one with the lowest id

There is no entry. It is blank for everyone. Maybe because they are coming in from a stand alone?? Puzzling.

The people I imported using civicrm do have creation dates.
