Insert an activity history record for a contact from Joomla form - API?

The above API link is meant to show an example of custom API call for updating a contact activity - however it has a // Code coming soon...

Is there an example out there somewhere?
If i turn on debug wil i see the insert/updates sql code output?

Any pointers welcome

the tests directory have quite a few good use cases of the various API's
