"Home" not well translated in 3.1 joomla/french
January 19, 2010, 10:16:26 am
Hi,

I've noticed that in the admin menu bar "Home" is translated in french to "domicile". This is not correct and should be replaced by "Accueil " which means in french something like "reception".

I suppose this is because "home" is correctly translated to "domicile" in the data po file and because the french use another word for "home" on websites.

In administration panels french people are used to the word "accueil" to go to the administration's homepage. The same applies for websites frontends where french people use also the word "accueil" (reception) for "home" or "homepage".

Thanks, I fixed ‘Home’ translations in French and Canadian French (as well as Polish…). This is the only place where we use ‘Home’, so I just translated it to ‘Accueil’.

I rebuilt the MO files, so if you want an updated French translation feel free to fetch the MO file from our repository. The updated translation will be shipped with both CiviCRM 3.0.4 and 3.1.beta6 later this week.

well I followed your link, downloaded the .mo file and replaced the one in administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/l10n/fr_FR, and nothing changed. So I resaved my language settings but still nothing new. I am forgetting something ?

Hm, this is strange. Can you check another language and then come back to French? (We generate the menu and cache the result, and regenerate only when the language changes, so if you didn’t change the language you might see a menu generated from the old MO file.)

I just checked our demo server and ‘Home’ is ‘Accueil’ there.

When I came back the day after (shutting down the server/computer and restarting all the day after) "domicile" had become "accueil" so all is now in order.
