Registering more than one person under one price
January 25, 2010, 08:52:18 pm
I'm trying to launch a site where the price set for an event includes packages for a retreat for both couples and singles. Of course, for the couples, we want to have a way to put in the second person's name, but not have to register them for their own package.

Is there a way to do this? It seems that for events you would want to have a way for someone to register a couple or perhaps a whole table of guests and record their names, but only have to pay for the one registration.

Thanks!

Yep - on event you can set it to 'register multiple persons' - check documentation or book for instructions or have a good dig on demo under New Event configure.

Thanks for the reply. I tried multiple persons, but it made me actually register for them, not just add names as guests. For example, if we have a corporate table for 8, and enable registering multiple participants, it actually charges them 8 times for the table.

Am I wrong? Can you register multiple persons and actually just add them as guests under the main registration?

Thanks again!

one programmatic way of doing this is using hooks. here's a sample implemementation:

1. introduce a $0 amount field in your amount set

2. For the main register form, use the buildAmount hook to hide this field

3. for all additional participants field, set this amount as the default and hide the entire amount set

i've not tried the above scenario, but seems like it will work
