Configure CiviCRM Home Page with Meetings
September 19, 2007, 05:13:35 am
Hi All,

Whenever anyone in my org schedules a meeting or other activity, it shows up on the CiviCRM home page. However, staff members only want to see the activities/meetings that they schedule and not everyone else's. Is this possible to configure?

Thanks.

Emily - The Home Page displays ALL Activities for users who are assigned the "administer CiviCRM" access control permission. Otherwise it only displays activities where the logged in user is either the Source or Target of the Activity.

Based on the behavior your reporting - I'm assuming that all your staff members are assigned "administer CiviCRM" permission. If this is not needed for their task - the easiest fix is to remove this from their Role (I'm assuming Drupal here). Otherwise, you would need to make a small hack to the code - modifying CRM/Contact/Page/View/DashBoard.php - approx line 157 which sets the $admin flag.

Thanks, Dave! I would prefer not to hack any code due to upgrades, so I'll go with the other option. Much appreciated,
Emily

I've just noticed that in v2.0 even users who have "administer CiviCRM" checked off in Drupal access control are only getting activities for themselves where they are Source or Target of an Activity; before "CiviCRM administrators" could see all upcoming activities.

Is this a purposeful change or a bug?

This sounds like a bug. I'll investigate further, thanks for pointing it out.

Just to follow up on this issue, in the next 2.0 release there will be a new permission called 'view all activities' that you can check to give certain roles the ability to see activities without giving them administer civicrm privs. You can see the full issue here:
