Custom Date Field error

I upgraded from 2.2.8 to 3.0.3.  When I try to save or create a new Custom Date Field, I get the following error:

Code: [Select]
Please correct the following errors in the form fields below:
You must have a year selected for a custom date

There is no option to select a year.
The already existing date field does not show the popup or field to input data.

Can you give exact steps to replicate this problem. If possible try to replicate it on http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org

I tried to replicate it on the demo, it worked fine.  I went back to my site to try to replicate it there, also went fine.  Inbetween this post and your response, i had a convo with lobo about other things, and actually backed up my DB and then reapplied a beta6 upgrade.  Things have been much better since then, so I am wondering if something went wrong with the data update first time around.

What WAS happening is that whether I created a new date field or modified an existing one, I received the error.  I also do not recall seeing the nice drop down of date format options, so I am wondering if this was the problem.  AND, I was receiving endless smarty errors so many fields were not saving correctly.  That is why I backed out and reinstalled.  No more smarty errors, and fields save as they should.
