Views trouble on upgrade to 3.1

Drupal: 6.8
PHP: 5.2.6
Views: 6.x-2.8

I am attempting to upgrade my CiviCRM 3.0.2 installation to 3.1.  I believe that I have followed the installation instructions carefully.

When I attempt to hit the upgrade url, I get the following error:

  http://<your_drupal_home>/civicrm/upgrade?reset=1

Fatal error: Call to a member function get_handlers() on a non-object in /webapps/d6/sites/all/modules/views/includes/view.inc on line 372
and no other content displayed:
I have deleted files under templates_c.

I am able to revert to 3.0.2 successfully. However,  I notice if I hit the upgrade path on my existing 3.0.2 site I get the same error. Otherwise, my 3.0.2 site seems to be ok.

Has anyone else run into something similar or have any suggestions?

Hm, haven’t encountered this one before. You can try disabling the views, then upgrading and re-enabling them again.

Turns out this seems to have been related to this issue around "Failed opening required 'CRM/Contact/Page/View/DashBoard.php' "  http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,12061.0.html.

After I disabled views, I could run the upgrade script and get rid of the DashBoard.php error. I then reenabled views.  Seems to be working nicely now.
