add (or remove) fields in View Contact Summary tab
February 05, 2010, 11:27:02 am
Is there an easy way for a non-techy person to add fields to the Summary tab of View Contact?

Two items in particular: There is currently a tab for Notes that has really key information in this client's database that she would like to see on the Summary tab rather than having to switch back and forth.

Second, she also would like to have a field for Employer show up. When I imported data, there was a field called in her database called Business Name that I stuck in Supplemental Address 1 when doing the import for individuals (there was no other suitable field offered). How can I make this appear anywhere in the mix?

Is Profiles the way out of this, or is that a different animal?

Thanks much for any help or guidance.

not for the complete non-techy, a semi-techy can potentially do the notes part by:

1. using customized templates and then using the smarty function "crmURL" to grab the contents of another url and stick in the summary tab

2. the second part will require some tech skills etc to expose the data. Ideally you should use the "employer" feature in civicrm to store the data and then it appears in the contact summary
