Is it possible to select all custom fields to be part of a profile?
February 08, 2010, 05:35:04 am
Hello all,

I have a complex form with over 150 specific custom data fields. Some of the data already exists but most needs to be entered by the contacts themselves. I am using drupal and want to give all contacts of that contact type ability to change all fields in Custom data. At the moment the only way I can see of doing this is by creating a profile, but the this would seem to mean adding each field individually.

I'm really hoping someone has an easier way and can save me many hours of repeating the work I've already done in creating the custom fields in the first place. This is the first of 3 sub-contact-types!

Any ideas?

Many thanks
Durruti

might consider investigating the time to write a script to add all custom fields from a group to a profile group, this request has come up fairly often and will be a great addition. One potential workflow is:

1. Display a form with a drop down box of "source" custom group and "destination" profile group. On submission copy all fields from custom group to profile group

2. For extra credit, when "source" custom group is picked, display all custom fields with checkboxes (all checked). the user can then uncheck the few fields they dont want
