subscribe pages, without mail-adres field
February 08, 2010, 06:20:14 am
Hi,

We want to 'clean' our contacts by using a subscribe page.
We have different public groups and many contacts are member of one or more groups.
We want to send a mail to everyone with a link to a webpage where they can choose to what group(s) they will belong to (or not).
So they can subscribe and unsubscribe themselves to or from a group and with the option to control the opt-out flag.

Is this possible and how ?

There exists a subscribe page, but this will ask the users mail-adres. But we found it rare that when we send a user a mail to control his membership that a must re-enter his mail-adres.

Kind regards,
Peter

1. will the contacts have a login on the system. If so, they can use the "user dashboard", q=civicrm/user&reset=1

2. alternatively you can expose the groups to a profile and use the "checksum" method (search on forums) and send a checksum based profile link to each user. the profile will retrieve their current groups and mark them sbscribed etc
