Is there a way to search for events by name?
February 09, 2010, 08:55:30 am
We have 150 events.  Want to find and tag participants who went to an event with the name "couple" in it (ie. "couples lunch") but I can't figure out how to search for event titles - any ideas?  note that search builder offers participant fields and includes an "Event" field, but it is incorrectly labeled - it should be "Event Number" as it does not actually look up the event name.  I realize this might require customization but was wondering if there is a creative way to accomplish this.  I suspect it is a common use case.

You might want to take a look for Find Contact using 'Advanced Search' feature.
here you can find contacts those are participant for given event w/ event name and tag those contacts.

Thanks for the reply Karen. I did try that, but unfortunately, the advanced search for events does not accept wildcards (in 3.0 at least).

You will have to select an event. You cannot use wild cards for autocomplete widgets.

I see - how about partial matches?  shouldn't it work just like contact name.  If I have 3 events with the word "Summer" shouldn't it accept "Summer" and return 3 events.  It looks like it only accepts event numbers in the auto-complete fields.

Currently partial/wildcard search is not possible. You can only select one event at a time.

your short term solution might be to build a custom search to meet your needs
