Pager on CiviCase Dashboard
February 09, 2010, 10:36:17 am
Would it be a lot of work to add a pager to CiviCase Dashboard? We have a site with over 1000 cases and rising. The dashboard is very, very slow to load and sends the browser's CPU usage sky-high while loading and often triggers firefox's "script not responding" dialog. We've removed Cases with Recent Activities from the template, which halves the size but it's still pretty well unusable.

Re: Pager on CiviCase Dashboard

Discussed on IRC:

Feb 09 19:57:21 <dlobo>   not done pagers on dashboards as yet
Feb 09 19:57:40 <davej_>   OK, much work?
Feb 09 19:57:44 <dlobo>   i think it will be a 10-30 hour project if things go smoothly
Feb 09 19:58:07 <dlobo>   we'll probably use a jquery table widget and make things ajaxy
Feb 09 19:58:18 <dlobo>   but thats a very rough guess and i might be off
Feb 09 19:58:44 <davej_>   OK. If I wanted to do a simple pager, is that easy?
Feb 09 19:59:12 <dlobo>   no model to follow
Feb 09 19:59:21 <dlobo>   since we've not done it on a dashboard
Feb 09 20:00:06 <dlobo>   and u'll need to send in params to reload the dashboard with the latest stuff
Feb 09 20:00:23 <dlobo>   or maybe just list the top 50 cases
Feb 09 20:00:28 <dlobo>   and then send to find cases?
Feb 09 20:00:51 <dlobo>   that might be the easiest
Feb 09 20:01:06 <dlobo>   thats that we do for other dashboard, where we send them to find
Feb 09 20:01:32 <davej_>   Like EVent dashboard?
Feb 09 20:03:20 <davej_>   dlobo: yes, maybe we'll just limit the query for now.
Feb 09 20:04:17 <dlobo>   yeah, that might be the quickest / easiest solution
Feb 09 20:04:31 <dlobo>   can u respond to your post :)
Feb 09 20:04:49 <davej_>   dlobo: So many requests coming in on this project that we have to keep it simple!
