Profiles not working after upgrade
February 10, 2010, 06:28:11 am
We upgraded from standalone 3.0.4 to 3.1.1., and now all the profiles give the following error message:

The requested Profile (gid=2) is disabled OR it is not configured to be used for 'Profile' listings in its Settings OR there is no Profile with that ID OR you do not have permission to access this profile. Please contact the site administrator if you need assistance.

I get this error even if I am logged in as admin. I've made sure the profiles all have "profile" checked off, and are active.  I also checked that "profile listing and forms" is checked off in the ACL's for everyone.  Seems likely that it was something with the upgrade process?

Hmm, one of the ones that wasn't working was created from scratch.  So I tried doing another one and it worked fine.  Did a third, and it didn't work.  Deleted it, and redid it, and it worked.  I've tried figuring out if there is something that I am doing that causes it, but there seems to be no pattern.  I did use an ! in one of the names, and thought maybe that was it, but that is working ok now.

I think it might be the mail system.  It seems if I give an email address for it to send to after registering a profile, that is what is causing the error.

It's definitely the mail.  For either contributions or profiles, if I have it set to send out an email afterwards, that is what causes the error.  Not sure what I am doing wrong with the mail.  CiviMail is working OK.

Does your mail also work fine when you send a test mailing (in CiviCRM but not CiviMail)?

If you have a working profile & add an e-mail address to send to does it stop working?

Works fine for test mails, and for civimail.  That's what is strange.  It's only on the donation pages and the profiles where it gives that error if I try to have it send an email (and I don't get the email).  Must be something I am doing wrong somewhere for the mail setup.

P.S.  One thing I am doing "different" is that I use gmail, so in the smtp outbound setup I use:
ssl://smtp.gmail.com
and port 465
based on some input on the boards.  Not sure if this is the problem, and there is a better way to setup gmail.
