3.1.1: Import Contacts can't enter csv file name
February 10, 2010, 01:56:44 pm
I have a new installation of 3.1.1.
I have another installation on a different website of 3.1.0 on the same server, so the server is good for civicrm.
This is a fresh installation, which looks like it went well, however i run into an issue with importing Contacts.
Note; Importing Contacts with 3.1.0 worked very well.

Issue:
In the first step of importing Contacts, screen goes wide, can't enter anything in the fields 'Choose Data Source', 'Upload CSV File', 'Import Options'.

Questions:
Is my installation maybe incomplete?
Is this a bug in 3.1.1?

Further news:
I installed 3.1.1 on another website, and same problem. I'm going to try installing 3.1.0 now, will let you know if it has the same issues.
Any suggestions much appreciated. Best, Karen-Ann

'screen goes wide' - what does that mean ??

Sounds like an installation / configuration problem though. Check your error logs.

Screen goes wide: I have to scroll for ever it seems to see the end of the window frame.

Question: where do i go to see error logs? I believe you are correct that it is an installation issue, would love some help here.

When I did the installation, no errors showed up at that time. Where can I look?

What about reinstalling, while using a .htaccess file, adding criteria  to the bottom:
(I did not do this before - wondering if it would help???)
php_value memory_limit 64M
php_value register_globals off
php_value max_execution_time 600

If I uninstall, the civicrm tables are not removed.  Is there a trick to removing them?
Or maybe I should install on top?
Or maybe i should start with a new database?

Karen - I'm not aware of anyone having the problem you've described. No idea if re-installing will help. You've said the layout is messed up - but not clear if (with scrolling) the site is displaying data / taking input etc. If you haven't played w/ the public demo in order to know what to expect - I would do that first so you can clarify if this is simply a layout issue or more than that. Screenshot(s) might also help.

If you want to drop the tables and 'start with new install' - you can run the provided sql civicrm_drop.mysql (in administrator/componenents/com_civicrm/civicrm/sql).

Might be better to discuss on IRC if you're still stuck.
