Option Lists - how to edit/delete/add
February 10, 2010, 03:54:28 pm
I have a new installation of 3.1.1.
I have another installation on a different website of 3.1.0 on the same server, so the server is good for civicrm.
This is a fresh installation, which looks like it went well, however i run into an issue with Option Lists.

Question:
I cannot add/delete/edit any of the Option Groups..
When i go to enter a new option, screen goes wide, can't enter anything in the field.

I found the table for the option groups: civicrm_option_value
Is it okay to edit this table and what would be the recommended approach?

Is this a bug in 3.1.1?

Appreciate the help. Best, Karen-Ann

I can't imagine a situation where you'd want to manually add a new option group, but I believe it's possible with this page: http://<your-ste>/civicrm/admin/options?action=add&reset=1

That page should also allow you to edit any of the option values for the existing groups (which would expect to be a much more likely need) if you click on "Multiple Choice Options" for the specific group in question listed in the option groups table.

Hi KarenAnn,
You can even add/edit option values in the database if you know where to look (the files are civicrm_option_group and civicrm_option_group_values of the top of my head), but I am worried about all these screens that go blank in your installation :-) I believe something is wrong that you should fix or it will bite you more times?
Good luck.....

Hi Erik:
I am willing to do a reinstallation if I know what to fix.

What about reinstalling, while using a .htaccess file, adding criteria  to the bottom:
(I did not do this before - wondering if it would help???)
php_value memory_limit 64M
php_value register_globals off
php_value max_execution_time 600

If I uninstall, the civicrm tables are not removed.  Is there a trick to removing them?
Or maybe I should install on top?
Or maybe i should start with a new database?

Hi KarenAnn,
I would try a compete new install (including the DB) and my guess is that 64M is certainly a good option. I do not think that the max execution time is a problem, I am not sure about the register globals but I am sure there is lots to be found on the Internet on that.
Good luck......

Problem solved - browser issue. Using IE7. Went to Firefox and no issues there. I am up and running, yippee!
