Civi profile in registration breaks Drupal new user registration process
February 12, 2010, 05:25:41 am
Drupal 6.15, Civi 3.1.2

Here's the problem I'm having:

When Civi profile is enabled on Drupal new user registration, the new user is added to both Drupal and Civi upon submission (good), but the setup email is never sent (bad). Insofar as Drupal generates a password that needs to be changed as a first step, this effectively breaks the new user registration process.

Both Drupal and Civi can successfully send emails, so it's not an email issue.

As in my earlier post on exposed profiles making the user page ("My Account") inaccessible, user is redirected on registration to the front page, instead of desired destination - in my case, a thank you page with instructions. This may give a clue as to where the process is interrupted, although the setup email fails to be sent in any case, regardless of redirect requests.

With Civi custom profile not exposed, behavior is as expected. Registration process is fine, as is profile submission to Civi, as separate operations.

New user registration isn't accessible on the test sandbox, so I can't test this - overall, I'd say there has been some new behavior introduced starting about 3.1.1 that interacts badly with the Drupal user component. I've done this sort of thing before without seeing problems.

Any ideas greatly appreciated - thanks much!

Thanks, JoopSJ. I've added my voice (and this thread) to the choir over there. Good catch.
