Profiles in events with custom data for contact subtypes

I am trying to add a profile to an event registration page with fields from a custom data group used for a contact subtype. But if the profile has fields in it that are used for a contact subtype it will not show up in the list of profiles to choose from in the event configuration. Profiles that contain only fields for individuals show up. Is it not possible to use contact subtypes in those profiles? Or am i missing something?

I am using the latest Civicrm (3.1.2)

is the subtype extending individual? if so, it should work. if not, can u try to reproduce on our demo server and file an issue

Yes the subtype is extending individual. Just reproduced it in the demo. I just filed an issue: http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-5832
