Q's on CiviMail Steps
February 12, 2010, 06:33:41 pm
CiviMail 3.1.2

Step 3 of 5
Mail subject used to default to the Mailing Name.  I'm pretty sure 3.1.1 still did this, but doesn't look like 3.1.2 does.   I can see how some may not want this, but was pretty handy and the subject was usually close to the mailing name.

I'll be darned, the templates work.  Interesting, the Subject swaps for the Template.... nice, but still would be nice to have an option to use the mailing name or at least know what the mailing name was so could copy it in.

Step 4 of 5
This is really why I'm posting.

- Would be nice if the send-to address for test, would default to the logged in user.  Version 1.9 did this, 3.1.1 did not.

- Sent to This Group
This feature caused us lots of grief with version 1.9.   We have a group that includes all of our contacts. I'm not sure why, but two different users, at different times, somehow thought they should sent the test to all of our contacts.  Both times, a bunch of records went out until the process crashed with some individuals getting as many as 100 test emails each.   We eliminated this problem in version 1.9 by eliminating the option to send to group and I think we'll do the same here.  I can't remember where we eliminated the option to send to group, but I don't think it was that hard to eliminate in version 1.9.   As far as we're concerned this is a must do mod.

We never used the option (legitimately anyway) and always sent the test to the logged on user, which at that time was the default on the screen.

If any others are interested or have ideas, please let me know.

Big improvement in CiviMail from 1.9 to 3.1.2 - thanks !!!
