Is it possible to edit Fee and Net Amount for paypal contributions?
February 14, 2010, 07:59:20 pm
Hi All,

I've have a situation where I am receiving membership renewals via PayPal and the payment amount includes a surcharge to cover the PayPal fee. When I check the contribution record both the Fee and Net Amount fields are both locked, so I'm unable to manually adjust. Is it possible to modify these some how?

note: i've just seen that a similar question to below was posted a couple of days ago.

A slightly different but related issue is that a member has paid both his own fees plus the renewal fees of another member by PayPal.  Again the payment is locked and I can't see any obvious way to allocate part of the contribution to each of the two memberships. Any suggestions?

cheers
Paul

You'll need to hack the code to modify them. i dont think we'd recommend modifying it since paypal will still retain the original amounts

i dont think it is easy/trivial to split the contribution between 2 memberships

I think we'll just live with it.  We can get a report from PayPal with the fee amounts.

There only 2-3 members who contribute on the behalf of other members - it's a hang over from previous years where overseas members could only pay by bank draft.  Using a $0.00 payment for membership fee, a note on the contribution record to the effect it has been paid by another member, and a soft credit is a workable solution seeing there are so few instances.

cheers
